Suit Affecting the Parent-Child Relationship (SAPCR)

A SAPCR is a lawsuit used to establish parentage, child custody, and child support of a child or children.

A SAPCR can be filed by either a parent or an authorized person to request child custody, visitation, child support, and medical support.

It’s filed under a variety of situations. It can be part of a divorce or pursued by separating parents who were never married. Significantly, this legal remedy is also available to guardians, conservators, or relatives who find themselves caring for a child.
